Modern lifestyles have added a lot to our lives but, once we moved in to nice tightly-insulated air-conditioned spaces in the suburbs, we lost a little something. Sometimes it would be a party, perhaps some old friends jamming on the front porch, sometimes it would just be a soloist practicing his scales, or working through a new tune. The sounds of our neighborhoods used to drift in over the transom, and form the background of our day to day activities.
Tuneburg is a community that will bring some of that back. The intention is to combine social networking features, with features that are important to musicians and hardcore fans.
If you just want to showcase your music, go ahead and sign up and upload some tunes. Unlike other sites, our license terms allow you to use copy-written music. We are currently in a Beta testing phase but when we “go live” we will be licensed as an Internet Radio Station so there's quite a bit of freedom from the standpoint of your selection of music.
If you're a band and you're looking for a new member, upload your audition piece, let folks listen to it practice against it, and they can upload their audition tracks or record them in-line as the site supports direct recording.
There are three basic areas to the site;
Your personal blog, which allows you to write, record in-line, or upload you music. Recent blogs appear in the community blog stream at Community Blogs
Forums give you a place to trade notes and ideas with other like-minded folks, sell goods and services, or get answers to questions that you may have about music, recording, or the workings of the site itself.
And, last but certainly not least, there's “What's Playing”; the Tuneburg community's music stream. Anyone in the community can upload to that shared stream so that the broad community can hear it and enjoy it. We'll be having contests and other ways to promote the talents of Tuneburg residents.
